We went through confined months and since May we have rehearsed the first steps outside. We were afraid because we don’t know what will happen.
Do we have to go home again?
We don’t know, we don’t know, we don’t know …
Being away from others or being exposed to COVID-19 can be stressful, even if we don’t get sick. We all feel different after leaving quarantine. Some feelings include:
- Contradictory emotions, including relief after quarantine.
- Fear and concern for your own health and the health of your loved ones.
- Stress from the experience of monitoring or being monitored by other people for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
- Sadness, anger or frustration because friends or loved ones have unfounded fears contracting the disease because they are in contact with you, even if you have been determined not to be contagious.
- Blames himself for not being able to perform normal work or parenting tasks during quarantine.
- Other emotional or mental health changes.
We want to have a normal life but we also don’t know what is normal and we try to discover what a new normality is. We want to go out again, have dinner out into the garden without worrying, but we still can’t.
We have to wait without despair.
